Who is responsible

Privacy questions and requests: privacy@dealsspy.com

What we collect

  • Account details you give us: an email address, a username, and a password we store only as a hash.
  • What you post: deals, comments and votes, together with the account that made them.
  • Sign-in records: when a session started, and the browser and network it came from, so you can end a session you do not recognise.
  • Outbound clicks: which deal was clicked and when. The network address is never stored — it is turned into a keyed hash on the way in, and the key is rotated.
  • Page views, counted per deal per day and not per person.

What we do not collect

We do not run an advertising network, a third-party analytics tag or a social widget. No third-party script runs on a public page on this site, so nothing here is building a profile of you across other sites.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in US state privacy law.

Why we hold it

To let you sign in, to attribute what you post to you, to pay attention to abuse, to rank the home page, and to reconcile the commission a merchant reports against the click that earned it.

Who it goes to

  • The merchant you click through to, which learns that a visitor arrived from this site and receives an opaque click identifier. It does not receive your account or your email address.
  • Our email provider, for the messages you asked for — confirmations, password resets and anything you have opted into.
  • Our hosting and storage providers, which hold the data on our behalf and under contract.

How long we keep it

Account records last as long as the account. Click detail is kept for thirteen months and then reduced to a daily total that identifies nobody. Session records are pruned once they expire.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, and ask us not to sell or share it — which we do not do in any case. Our Your Privacy Rights page is how to ask, and we do not treat you differently for asking.

We honour the Global Privacy Control signal automatically. If your browser sends it, we treat it as an opt-out without your having to do anything else.

Your Privacy Choices explains what that means here.

Children

This site is not for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from one. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.
